This Friday (July 21st) marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Appetite For Destruction. Last year, the band grossed $100 million in North America, and this year are 2017's highest grossing tour. So, what could top that?

Throwback Thursday: 1980 – Jefferson Starship Plays Maine

This week in 1980, Jefferson Starship played the Cumberland County Civic Center. By this time, they were about 110 degrees towards what would be a 180 degree steer from Jefferson Airplane to Starship. I say 110, because even after they reformed the band as Jefferson Starship, some of Airplne's style was retained the first few years. By 1980, both Marty Balin and Grace Slick had left, and Mickey Thomas entered the picture. The band were riding newfound success with a streamlined sound on Freedom at Point Zero.

Tom Petty And Stevie Nicks Duet In London

Did you know Stevie Nicks almost joined The Heartbreakers? After they recorded "Stop Dragging My Heart Around," Nicks said she even would've left Fleetwood Mac if offered. She told Rolling Stone,  "Had Tom Petty called me up one day and said, ‘If you want to leave Fleetwood Mac to be in the Heartbreakers, there's a place for you,' I might well have done it!” They have frequently collaborated over the years, and recently met up again in London on the Heart-breakers 40th Anniversary Tour, which plays Boston on the 20th.

Guns ‘N Roses Hit Career Milestone

I remember when they announced the reunion. "No way was GNR going to tour, and have it run through the entire summer." In fact, part of the reason I didn't purchase tickets to their Gillette shows was the idea they wouldn't make it. Well again, I was completely wrong.

Phil Collins Falls. Tour Postponed

We feel for Phil Collins. He's overcome a number of health issues to finally be able to hit the road again. Unfortunately, Phil has injured himself in the most un-rock and roll way.

Guns N Roses Return To New England

Last year, Guns N Roses brought their Not In This Lifetime tour around the country. No one (including this guy) thought it would last long enough to play out the dates scheduled for Gillette Stadium. Based on history, SOMETHING would go wrong. Fans would borderline riot since Axl refused to go on before midnight. Or, cancel the show altogether, as explained so eloquently by show opener Sebastian Bach. These were just the last two times I attempted them to see the band! So, band history, traffic snarls, and the following likelihood kept me from the show. A show which tied November Rain with the piano breakdown of Layla, and a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here." Plus, all the songs you'd expect. Damn.
