The trend continues to be good as we head into the busy summer season as gas prices here in Maine continue to drop from last week.

According to the price monitoring site Gas Buddy, the average price for a gallon of gas in Maine this week is $2.315, which is down over two cents from last weeks average price of $2.337.

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gas remains steady from last weeks average of $2.33.

We searched locally for the lowest gas prices in Central Maine.

In Augusta, the lowest places we could find for a gallon of gas were at the C & S Market on Riverside Drive, and the Irving Stations on 284 Civic Center Drive and 25 Western Ave.  All three reported gas at $2.23 a gallon.

In Waterville, the cheapest place we could find to buy gas was at the CITGO Station 364 Main St/Waterville Commons Dr. They checked in with gas at $2.28 a gallon.
