Styx bring the United We Rock tour with REO Speedwagon and Don Felder to Bangor on Sunday. They must love Maine in August, as it was this week back 1978 they brought the The Grand Illusion tour to Portland's Cumberland County Civic Center.

Two years before their first #1 "Babe," they took their concept record on the road. Opening with the title track, the sold out crowd of 9,100 rocked to "Come Sail Away," "Blue Collar Man," and "Foolin Yourself." Michael Stanley opened the show.

Styx were to reach their commercial and creative peak in 1981. Between the success of their ballads, and Dennis DeYoung's push for more theatrics in their live show, the band would start to break apart. Within' the next few years, they would go full concept with Killroy Was Here, (complete with Mr. Robato) followed by solo projects from Dennis and Tommy Shaw. To this day, DeYoung hopes for a reunion.
