Are you trying to eat more vegetables, but finding yourself wishing they were made of meat?

Arby's has your back. The restaurant is hard at work creating a series of “Meat Vegetables,” or “Megetables™.”

Yes, this is a real thing.

The first one off the line (which is sadly not available to the public...yet) is the "Marrot," a carrot made entirely of turkey.

“Plant-based meats are the latest incarnation of making vegetables look like what Americans really want, which is great, tasty meat,” Jim Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer for Arby’s, said.

“Universally, people know we’re supposed to eat vegetables every day. But 90 percent of Americans don’t eat the recommended amount. So we said if others can make meat out of vegetables, why can’t we make vegetables out of meat?”

To make the Marrot (the entire process is explained in the video below), eville Craw, Vice President of Culinary Innovation & Brand Executive Chef for Arby’s, ut a whole turkey breast into the shape of a carrot, sous vide the meat for one hour, then rolled it in a special carrot marinade and a brûlée with maple syrup powder. He then oven roasted the carrot-shaped turkey for an additional hour before topping it off with a fresh sprig of parsley to give it the full carrot effect.

So, hopefully when you go to the (disappointing) all-vegetarian barbecue this summer, you'll be able to fit in by munching on your meat carrot!
