It's an event that happens annually here in Augusta, but due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak it will be happening virtually this year. If you're still looking to participate in Free ME From Lung Cancer's largest annual fundraiser this year, here's what you need to know.

This year, you can do the 5K YOUR way! The virtual run/walk will be taking place from October, 25th through November, 7th. After you have completed your run/walk you will want to submit your time no later than 5 PM on the 7th of November.

Depending on how you do you'll be eligible for a $100 cash prize for top overall male/female and $25 for top male/female in each age group. According to their website, Free ME From Lung Cancer has one certified course if you want to run it, and if interested, you should contact Deb Violette at 207.215.9035.

All the proceeds from the event will support Free ME From Lung Cancer's longstanding mission of lung cancer research, early detection, radon abatement, education and community support.

So don't let the pandemic keep you from having a little fun, challenging yourself and raising awareness and money for a great local organization. And, do your part to help spread the word about the event's changes this year so that others may also have time to prepare to participate.

Additionally, the big auction will also go virtual this year and will run from October, 1st to October, 31st. As soon as the links for the auction go live, you'll be able to link to it right from here.

Oh, and if you aren't interested in the 5K or the auction, but you still want to support this great cause, you can click here to send your donation to Free ME From Lung Cancer.
