Throwback Thursday: 1987 – Warren Zevon Plays In Maine
This week in 1987, Warren Zevon packed them in at the Portland Expo. Fresh off a show in Poughkeepsie, NY, Warren was touring on his first post rehab album, Sentimental Hygiene. The album itself was a considered a return to form, with a backing band featuring R.E.M.'s Mike Mills, Peter Buck, and Bill Berry. His striking humor brimmed in songs like "Detox Mansion," "Reconsider Me," and the title track. No real setlist exists for Portland, but given the shows played around the area, these were likely in the show. Warren also gave longtime fans hits like "Excitable Boy," "Lawyers, Guns, and Money," and "Werewolves Of London."
On a related note, why isn't Warren Zevon in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?
